What publisher is best?
I wrote a book of fiction teenager, but do not know who to be published by. I want a well-known publisher and consumer. Which is better? How do I send my manuscript to them? E-mail or postal simply normal? Can I get a copyright before or after I show them my manuscript? I want to become a successful author. Do I need an agent? Where do I find one? Is Xlibris, iUniverse, Publishing or lectern any good? I do not want to self-publish. I want a publisher to publish for me. The publishers accept any manuscripts they read? Which they looking for? What are their expectations and standards? Please tell me what you can! Thank you!
I support the recommendation that you check the latest edition of Writers Market. It will have a multitude of resources to help you find places to submit. If cost is a concern, because it is expensive, see if your local library has a copy that you can check. You must submit different things to different vendors - They all have different guidelines as to what kind of presentation packages they want. Things that might be included are a query letter or cover, a synopsis, sample chapters (usually the first three), an overview chapter by chapter, etc. Most publishers will not look at manuscripts that are sent together in without being asked. Some might not want a query letter and outline of your story and then consider the sample chapters if they are interested. Some publishers do not accept any unsolicited manuscripts (ie, you will be rejected before they begin to read). That is why research is essential! I also have a book that is published by the people market of the writer, called formatting & submission. He has a ton of information on the submission of all types - novels, screenplays, short stories, poetry, greeting cards, whatever! They have a guide to literary agents, so if you want to see what might be involved in taking this path. All these books have a ton of information (far more than can be transported here) No, the editors do not accept all manuscripts they submit. The best known of the publisher, usually smaller your chances are of having it accepted. However, do not be discouraged by that! Every great writer has had a mountain of rejection letters.
