Career in Chinese or Korean ancient textiles?
I am currently a student at the University with a Bachelor of science in geology, but I'm really interested in a career in antiques. I am particularly interested in being an evaluator Conservative or Korean or Chinese antiques, especially textiles. However, I have absolutely no idea how. I suspect I need a degree in art history or museum studies is, and probably some sort of certification or advanced degree, but I know nothing beyond. What great serve my purpose better, art history or museum studies? What are the schools that offer these majors? How should I focus on the ancient Chinese or Korean textiles in particular? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Jessi, a few links for you to to consider. First, there is an event of art and future Asian to come here (see link) in Dallas, Texas in September 2011. I would try to make some contacts and network a bit - as a student networking is always good because people are lonely happy to talk to them, their careers and have suggestions for you to follow in your own ability and time.
