Will my yard sale do well if my prices are 25 and 50 cents on everything?
I recently went to a few yard sales where I live and noticed really high prices. These people were trying to sell an ottoman with a broken leg and ripped cushion for $150.00. The lady said they just bought it but it fell out of the back of their truck on the way home and they wanted what they paid for it. She kept saying, "But it's brand new", and I thought if it's broken it's no good. Then at a different sale some guy wanted a dollar a piece for some children's books, some with the covers missing or warped. I was amazed. This is a yard sale people, not a store. Ha ha.
The yard sale will be in Searcy, Arkansas.
You are definitely right. That's not the place to sell something that high.
I LOVE garage sales, but I do expect a bargain when I go to them and I am more inclined to buy a lot of 50 cent items rather than one item for a lot of money.
25 and 50 cents may be kind of low though. I think you'd be able to get away with $1, $2 and $5 items, but I wouldn't go above that.
If someone is seriously looking to sell something like an ottoman for that amount of money, I'd do it elsewhere...like the newspaper or peddlers post, if you have one.
