painting drawer handles to look like polished silver?
Is it possible to make dull grey metal drawer handles look like polished silver?
will silver paint work? spray-paint? nail polish? thin silver sheets?

i bought an old dresser that was made in the 1950's
the handles were painted white but it was apparent that they were made of metal possibly nickel
6 or them turned out great, they are a very shinny silver color
but the four that were different are dull grey
That depends on the look. No paint will look entirely like chrome/polished silver. You can try that, try & replace the knobs, or if the faux metal look just does not do it, I would do with a totally different accent look (similar but not identical often does not look good, but totally different works better). It may also be possible to have then re-plated (look in the phone book under platers, metal refinishing etc), or powder-coated. The best is spray paint--water based paints will not adhere well to metal. Forget nail polish & metal sheets/leaf.
