Smith & Wesson M&P?
I'm in the market for a concealed carry pistol, and I've heard good things about the S&W M&P compact. Friends have suggested a compact Glock, but I've never been a huge fan of them. (Feels like I'm gripping a brick), and I've heard the ergonomics on the M&P are much better. Has anyone here own/carry one? Is it a good choice?
I carry the M&P 40 and like you, I personally dont care for the Glock line for the ergonomics. Far too blocky. It is a very well made pistol, but it just doesnt fit the hand well for point of aim shooting.
The nice thing ( and what made the choice for me) on the M&p 40 is a selection of back straps behind the main spring housing that allows you to "custom fit" the weapon for the size of your hand. I have relatively large paws and when I put the largest grip in place, it fit nicely.
PS....I also looked at the Springfield XD, which I do like, but it uses about a 25 pound recoil spring. It would need hot ammo to keep it cycling and also made it rather difficult to rack for the first shot.
Just my opinion. I never claim to be an expert, just a lot of personal experience.
