i need an easy way to value my grandmothers silverware collection?
trying to do an estate plan and need to put some sort of valuation on a collection of sterling silverware (knives/forks, spoons, some serving spoons, etc)......i don't have any idea what pattern it even is (and it's a mix from my 2 grandmothers).....is there a general rule of thumb for this kind of thing? (like $50 each piece or something?
On the back of the utensils will be writing. It will give the manufacturer and the pattern# you can tell us that here or search it out ..
Most silverware is plated..coated in sterling ...some patterns are worth different amounts from virtually nothing to very highly sought after.
Complete sets with serving pieces are worth more then missing or partial sets.
50$ a piece for a rare item is doubtful.
