Use an octagonal reflector with a wood stove?
I'm in the process of buying a new house up in the mountains. The only problem is, it doesn't have a wood stove yet. My wife and I were thinking of putting one in for next winter.
The wood stove would be put at the far end of a long house and so I was thinking, wouldn't it help out to put an octagonal (using three sides of an octagon) reflector behind the wood stove to reflect the radiant heat out into the house.
Has anyone out there attempted such a project? Would reflecting the radiant heat in this manner help warm the house more evenly? What materials would be suitable to use as a reflector? Would glass make a suitable material for a reflector?
Your best bet is to get an outdoor wood burner, less mess in the house, supplies hot water and heat for the whole house, and doesn't take up any floor space, but if you want an indoor wood burner with reflector use copper sheeting it's about the best for radiating heat.
