does anyone know if a 50hp evinrude lark has a shear pin? ?
if so where is it and if not what stops the shaft breaking if you hit a submeged object or sand bar?
there isnt one on the prop or anywhere at the bottom of the leg.
It does not have a shear pin. It has a thru-prop exhaust, and the prop has a rubber bushing ("hub") to absorb the shock of shifting gears and prop strikes.
The hub is pressed in under tremendous pressure, requires special tooling so repairs have to be done at a prop shop, but the cost is usually pretty reasonable.
The first answer is correct for most outboards under 15hp or so.
