im thinking about building a house cheap. would the cheapest way to do this ...?
i already own land and im single with no children. would a good way to do this buy a 16x24 garage 2 floors for around $12,000 and do the rest of the work myself. the only thing i need done is the septic, well, and slab. i can do the wiring, plumbing, installing the furnace, insulation, doors, and walls. i was thinking about putting in sliding glass doors where the garage door is. the down stairs would be a living room, kitchen combo, with a closet. the upstairs would be the bed room, bathroom and two closets. i realize it would be small but i dont need much and i already have a med. size shed for storage. im pondering the log cabins kits, but they seem like a lot more work. any other cheap ways to do this? what about dome houses?
Licensed contractors should be used for your own safety even if it is not a requirement where you live. Log cabin "kits" are very expensive and way more complicated than they seem. Surely there are building codes where you are - check out the requirements first.
