We are putting up a new wooden ceiling beam. Any ideas on how to make it look weathered and old?.?
We are going for the barn-wood look in a new Adirondack-themed room.
Consider getting it sand blasted or wire brushed.
That will remove some of the softer wood, and give weathered texture.
Stain the beam well with a colour you like and wipe it off the high points.
The softer the wood, the deeper the profile
