Can plain almonds be used to substitute pine nuts?
There's a recipe for vegan mac and cheese I want to try. I have all the ingredients except pine nuts. I could wait until tomorrow (grocery day) but I kind of want it tonight. Is this a good sub or no? I'm not sure what pine nuts add to food specifically because I have never used them.
If you want, you can just opt out the pine nuts. I think they taste a little like sunflower seeds. Not knowing what else is in your mac and cheese, I think I would try almonds, or pecans. Experiment!! Have fun with it, or try without
