am i going crazy my six month old is driving me up the wall?
i think he is teething but i dont know his dad just went back overseas, he wont let me rock him to sleep so i lay him in his crib but he cries and cries. i dont know to do i dont have any family by me and i stay at home help me
My Son is 6months as well and I know exactly what you are going through.
When he has his teething pains which got worse as his tooth got closer to the top, and finally came through. I did lots of things to soothe and help the pain.
First we went out and bought these Little teething rings their in a 3pack in the toy section at walmart, like $1.96 a pack, they are filled with liquid and just small enough for our little ones to hold and chew on after chilling.
We also bought a larger teething ring, Homeopathic Teething Tablets they helped ALOT, Oragel doesnt work btw, and We give him Tylenol when NOTHING else works for him. Usually by the time its time for his next dose "4hours" hes over the worst pain, or completely over it. If not, another dose isnt going to hurt him at all, aslong as you dont start making it a habit.
Your son may also be ready for solids if you aren't already feeding him them. We started our son on Gerber 1st stage Veggies, A new veggies every 2-3days. =) Talk to your Pediatriction first of course.
As far as keeping my son Occupied through the day, or soothed.
I push him around in his stroller through the house, I sit him up for play, I stand him up, Ive bought so many little toys! lol hes in love with toys, which makes me happy he likes to be Active rather than sitting watching tv ALL DAY!.
Make sure he gets plenty of Tummy time to! get down on the floor with him shake his favorite toy and encourage him to come get it whatever way he wants to try. my son rolls to me lol or scoots.
Try playing music, Try Singing to him, Dance for him, Try getting him out more if possible this works WONDERS for my son he sleeps so good for me if he gets out of the house.
My Son would Rarely let me rock him to sleep EVER, and still its the same. Hes awake most of the day, so i am ALWAYS trying some ways to keep him Occupied.
And sometimes I have to let him cry as hard as it is, but My Son thank god rarely ever cries now and I think a little crying is good for him.
It honestly sounds like some away time from your baby would be good for you, but if that isn't possible then maybe try taking your baby out. Spending some time together away from home even if its just strolling around a local store for an hour or so is really great for him to see theres a different world out there & might just be what he needs! =) sounds like what u may need.
Things will get better! My Father in Law is leaving in a month and a half to Afghanistan for a little over a yr and hes so sad that he has to leave both of his new grandsons. My son is 6months and then my sister in laws baby is a month and 10days behind mine. Its sad.
