Am I too old to be a model?

Ok here goes, I've just turned 22 and I'm wondering have I left it too late to be a model (serious lack of self confidence until roughly late last year). I've had comments about being a model since I was aged 9 or 10 (and was always mortified due to shyness) and still get told I could be a model. I'm 5'10 and around a UK size ten, dark brown hair with green eyes and fair to medium skin. BUT back to the main question, am I too old??? I've been told many models slow down work after 21 and that agencies aren't really interested after that age. So, what do ye think??
Also how do you start modelling in Ireland? Not meaning to be snobbish about the situation but I don't want to be one of those models standing in Grafton St in the middle of winter wearing a bikini promoting a new mobile phone...

The reality is, there IS age discrimination in modeling. Apparently when Agyness Deyn (then called Laura Hollins) went to agencies and said she was 21 she was rejected by 6 agencies. Then a few months later she went back with shorter hair, called herself Agyness, and said she was 17, and ended up getting signed by Models 1 - the same agency who rejected her just a few months earlier when they thought she was 21. It didn't come out that she lied about her age until a year or two ago when schoolmates of hers went to the press exposing her real birthdate, and Agyness was forced to admit that she lied about her age in order to get signed by an agency

The reality is, it's very rare for a runway model to be signed after the age of 18. But that doesn't mean you can't do commercial modeling. These are models who appear in ads for everything from cereal to toothpaste to tampons to Nokia phones. And commercial models come in all ages. You have commercial models who are in their 50s and 60s - just look at every ad you see in a magazine. That's a commercial model in the picture even if it's for Viagra or washing up liquid.

The top agencies in Ireland are Morgan The Agency, Compton and Rogue
