My tuxedo cat pees everywhere except litter box?
He pees on pillows, chairs, corners of room etc. Have used different products to deter where he goes, but nothing seems to work. PLEASE HELP
Is this a new behavior, or has he always done this? Is he neutered? Has he been to the vet to rule out things like a bladder infection?
If he's neutered and has been checked by a vet, you'll need to 1) retrain him, and 2) completely remove the urine odor from furniture, carpets, etc.
To retrain him, keep him confined to a small, easily cleaned room such as a bathroom or utility room. Put his litter box in there, and water, toys, bed, etc. Keep his litter box very clean - some cats simply will not use a dirty box. You might have to try different types of litter to find one he likes. You can let him out of his room to play with him and let him get some exercise, but only when you can watch him very carefully.
To clean the areas where he has peed previously, use an enzyme cleaner such as Nature's Miracle. You need to use a lot of the stuff, and keep it wet for a couple of days. A damp towel over the treated area works well. After you're reasonably sure you've removed all of the odor (and remember your cat's sense of smell is much better than yours!) do something to block off those areas. For instance, if he's been going in the corner of a room, place a piece of furniture there so he can't get to that spot again. You can also place a litter box in his favorite areas.
