I am so tired of being the "rednecks"?
Hello. I am really tired of being the red necks in our neighborhood. My parents love living in the country, and I do too, but being rednecks sucks! My parents let our horses run around our yard (our yard is fenced in...kind of hard to explain). We have 35 acres. Our roof is rusted, our house isn't finished (it was an Amish house, so it had no electricity, no plumbing, nothing) Every day I have to get wood for our wood stove. In the summers when kids are having fun, I have to help with hay, and our animals, and our garden. My room isn't finished. It doesn't have all the dry wall on it, the closet isn't done, we just got a door on it a couple weeks ago (we have been living here like 10 years!) and our floor is so uneven, if you put a marble on it, it will roll to one side of our house. I hate it! I have lived like this for 10 years, and I am as sick of it now, as I was then. What do I do? How do I get my parents to take pride in our house? By the way, I am 14.

Agree... Study hard...get yourself into grades that will get you a scholership.
Now on to the house. Ask your dad if you can help fixing up the house. At 14 you are NOT to young to start fixing things up. You already drive the stock or tractor during hay season (I am sure).
During the winter season watch around for construction projects...talk to the guys there explain your problem and start seeing if they have any 'extra" material around that you can use to start fixing up Your part of the house... (many times the end up with extra drywall or wood or stuff you can use) and once they see you working on something they might just make sure a little bit extra ends up n the "rubish" pile the days you come by.
We only had 4 acres but the horses were in the yard (and even in OUR house at Christmas...long story..funny home movie). We "shopped' at the local dump (dump master recycled stuff), neighbors plowed our fields and garden for us.
Start working on your own space. Make it nice little by little. My Father in Law lived in a two bedroom house.. decided he didn't like sleeping on the couch (his sister got the BR) so he built himself A bedroom... then he got tired of using a Bathtub so he built another bathroom with a shower... And this with NO hands on experience on fixing things from his Father..
So work on what you can change for yourself and forget about the rest. When you get old you will laugh from deck of your Yatch about your silly parents and how they were such "rednecks".
Other personal issues you DO have control over
Speach, and ability to write properly, VERY important in the world of prosperity.
How about figuring out how to build a small door in the wall of the house with a ramp for the firewood to slide down into the house. That way you might only have to go fetch the wood every other day or just load it up at night and its already there for your Mother to use.
