What is the Cost of living in the UK. St Johns Wood?
Can somebody give me a general idea for cost of living for a family of 4 living in St Johns Wood? For 2 Adults + 2 younger children ( age 3 and 5). I'm trying to get a sense of what monthly costs will be for: heating gas, TV license, mobile phone, landline phone, internet , water, trash disposal anything else you can think of. I'm planning on relocating from the US to UK and would like to get general sense of cost.
Thanks, - Eddie

Most of the things you mentioned are the same right across the board, whether you live in deptford, or st johns wood, you will obviously pay more, if you use it more, BT. (British telecom) is our main provider of telephone and Internet services, mobile telephones, are supplied by numerous companies, and the charges vary according to the provider.
TV license, the same everywhere in the UK £135.00 Per year.
Gas and electric, pretty much the same all round, with only a couple of main suppliers in London, but it all depends on how much you use the utility, they are metered, and billed direct, they require access to your premises to take meter readings, or they will estimate it, and bill you accordingly, this applies too: Gas, Electricity, and water.
As for garbage, you will be in the top end bracket, so you must find out what rates band you will be in, no doubt someone can answer that question for you.
But on the whole, St johns wood is one of London's most affluent areas, so expect a few surprises when out shopping.
Car actually runs on garbage
